Jan M. Heijdra Suasnabar is a junior Health Economist at the Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands. His work focuses mostly on estimating the value for money (i.e. cost-effectiveness) of healthcare interventions in order to inform decisions about resource allocation in the healthcare sector. He holds an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Most recently, as part of the GLUTENSCREEN project, Jan and colleagues evaluated the long-term cost-effectiveness of point-of-care testing for Coeliac disease (CD) in children in the Netherlands. This involved modelling the lifetime costs and outcomes of children with CD according to three competing strategies: current practice (i.e. clinical detection), mass-screening, and active case-finding based on presented symptoms. More information about GLUTENSCREEN can be found at www.glutenscreen.nl
