Dr Almuthe Christina Hauer is Assoc. Professor at Graz Medical University, where she implemented a certified Educational Center for Ped. Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. As chair of the Austrian PGHN society she succeeded in the recognition of PGHN as a Pediatric Subdisciplin on a governmental level. From 2017-2020 she was the ESPGHAN International Affairs Representative, served as the Congress President of the 6th World Congress of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (in Vienna, virtual) in 2021, and is currently chair of the Local organising Committee of the 55th Annual Meeting of ESPGHAN in Vienna. As Co-Director of the American Austrian Foundation and ESPGHAN Faculty of many Summer Schools she has lectured extensively, e.g. in former Eastern Europe and beyond. One of her clinical and scientific interests is therefore the management of PedGI diseases in more limited resource set-ups, a topic she pursued both as a member of the Porto IBD Group of ESPGHAN and within European Multicentre Studies incl. the EU-project “CD skills” re Coeliac Disease.
