Dr EK Tan is a senior consultant neurologist and Deputy CEO (academic affairs) at the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI), a Professor at Duke-NUS medical school and Lee Kong Chian school of medicine. Dr Tan has served in various committees in the International Movement Disorders Society, and International Association of Parkinsonism related Disorders under the World Federation of Neurology. He has been involved in numerous educational activities in the Asian Oceanic region and has received various national and international research awards. Dr Tan’s primary research interests are in clinical and functional genomics and experimental therapeutics in Movement Disorders.

Il Fan has been a healthcare professional in the field of Neurology for more than 13 years, she has been focus her work by taking care of stroke patients and lending a helping hand to caregivers in the inpatient and outpatient work. To improve stroke care, she also participates in auditing stroke process, reviewing guidelines & protocols, quality projects and research. Il Fan strongly believes in multi-disciplinary approach in stroke care. Hence, she does a lot of collaboration work with multiple professions in delivering comprehensive stroke care. She also co-lead an inter-professional education program to organised education activities for doctors, nurses and other allied health professional to learn together and share latest practice hoping to standardise stroke care. Compassionate and selfless, Ms II Fan often goes beyond the call of duty by making phone calls to check if patients and their caregivers are coping well. At time, she does home visits where necessary. Aside from her clinical duties, Il Fan has contributed some of her time in nursing education not only teaching but also designing training program. She showed her passion in guiding students and junior nurses in school and clinical setting. Il Fan uses her own time volunteering in delivering public talk and participates in stroke campaign to raise awareness. She also volunteered at neurology workshops in Yangon, Laos and Ho Chi Minh to share her knowledge and experience in stroke care. In April 2017, Il Fan received the Healthcare Humanity Award awarded by The Courage Fund. The Healthcare Humanity Award is presented to outstanding healthcare workers who are inspirational role models for going the extra mile to offer care and comfort to the sick and infirmed. Subsequently she also received MOH Nurses Merit Award and AMEI Golden Awards for Outstanding Young Educators Award in 2020

Tan Kay Sin University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Dr Tan Kay Sin is Professor of Neurology at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is also a consultant neurologist at the University of Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur. He graduated from the University of Melbourne, Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) and a Fellow of the American Heart Association. Dr Tan’s numerous clinical and research interests are stroke in young adults, clinical trials in secondary stroke prevention and neurosonology. He actively participates in the neurology service for the teaching hospital and coordinates the acute stroke thrombolysis and thrombectomy service. He has published widely with more than 100 publications in ISI-indexed journals and stroke-related book chapters. He has co-edited 1 stroke-related book and also contributed many book chapters and regional lectures in neurosonology. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Neurosonology & Neuroimaging. He has held leadership positions as President of the Asia Pacific Stroke Organization and Malaysian Society of Neurosciences. He was also the past Chairman for the Acute Stroke Advisory Panel which was responsible for many regional stroke related projects and collaborations. As a speaker, he has presented many lectures in local, regional and international meetings for the last 15 years.

Dr Shamala Thilarajah is a Principal Physiotherapist at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). Dr Thilarajah has been a physiotherapist since 2004, having completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) in 2003, Master of Health Sciences (Neurological Physiotherapy) in 2008 and her PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in 2019. Her research interest is in translating evidence to practice in stroke rehabilitation and life after stroke. Having trained as a physiotherapist in Sydney and London before returning home to Singapore in 2012, Dr Thilarajah has worked across the continuum of care in stroke. At present, Dr Thilarajah leads several stroke rehabilitation improvement projects at the Singapore General Hospital. She is also a current World Stroke Future Leader with the World Stroke Organisation. Dr Thilarajah is an avid volunteer with Singapore National Stroke Association (SNSA) and is the current President of SNSA.
