Perminder Sachdev AM MBBS MD FRANZCP PhD FAHMS is Scientia Professor of Neuropsychiatry, Co-Director of the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA), UNSW Sydney, Clinical Director of the Neuropsychiatric Institute (NPI) at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney, NHMRC Leadership Fellow and Co-Chair, Australian Dementia Network (ADNeT). He is the Director of the Centre of Research Excellence in Vascular Contributions to Dementia. His major areas of research are brain imaging, cognitive ageing and dementia, with a special focus on vascular dementia. He has published over 800 peer-reviewed journal papers and 6 books, including one for lay readers (The Yipping Tiger and other tales from the neuropsychiatric clinic) and a book of poems (A migrant’s musings). He was named NSW Scientist of the year for Biomedical Sciences in 2010. In 2011, he was appointed Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to medical research. He leads three longitudinal cognitive ageing studies: Sydney Memory and Ageing Study, Older Australian Twins Study and Sydney Centenarian Study; and three international networks: COSMIC, STROKOG and ICC-Dementia.

Dr. Saji studies the interrelationship between cerebrovascular diseases and cognitive dysfunction. Recently, cerebral small vessel diseases such as lacunar infarcts, white matter diseases, and cerebral microbleeds indicated by brain MRI are focused as common risk factors for cerebrovascular diseases and cognitive dysfunction. His research interests also include these common risk factors such as arterial stiffness, atrial fibrillation, and gut microbiome.

I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the ”Ovidius” University of Constanta in 1998. In 2005 I took the exam of specialist in Nuclear Medicine and in 2012 the exam of specialist in Neurology. In 2018 I becom a primary neurologist, currently working in the Neurology Department of the County Emergency Clinical Hospital ”Sf. Apostol Andrei” Galati. I have been teaching at the Faculty of Medicine within the ”Ovidius” University of Constanta since 1999, and since 2018 I have been the head of works at the Faculty of Medicine of the ”Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati. In 2009 I presented my doctoral dissertation entitled ” “The dynamic study of oxidative stress involvement as evolution and risk factor in acute coronary syndromes without ST elevation”. Throughout this period, the efforts made were in the direction of continuous professional training.

Prof. Dr. Gustavo Saposnik is a stroke neurologist, senior scientist, and Professor at the University of Toronto. He obtained an MPH and a PhD in Neuroeconomics. He brings over 25 years of experience as a clinician-scientist, educator, and team leader. He created and branded an international program on Outcomes Research and Neuroeconomics. Having formal education in multiple countries (Argentina, USA, Canada, Switzerland), Dr. Saposnik has a strategic vision and global perspective. Dr. Saposnik’s International Leadership is reflected by grants (30 as PI), 12 personal awards (Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, Canadian Institute of Health Research), over 300 peer-reviewed publications, invitations as keynote speaker, 10 best-practice guidelines, and consultant and/or Workshop leader for scientific organizations (World Stroke Organization, American Heart Association) and for the pharmaceutical industry (Servier, Roche, Celgene, Bayer, Boehringer, Amgen) in several countries. Dr. Gustavo Saposnik is also the Editor-in-Chief of the World Stroke Academy (world-stroke-academy.org), Editor of the Emerging Therapies Section (Stroke Journal) and board member of mot important stroke journals. As a Scientific Director, Dr. Saposnik designed and developed international studies to assess physicians' decisions in different therapeutic areasapplying concepts from neuroeconomics into medical care. As an entrepreneur, Dr. Saposnik is the Founder and scientific leader of Stroke Outcomes Network (SORCan.ca) and decision neuroscience platform to conduct research studies (NeuroEconSolutions.com). As a Team manager and educator, Dr. Saposnik brings over 25 years of experience with successful implementation and completion of over 150 research projects; ranked in the top 20th percentile in teaching across all University sites, and development/execution of workshops on therapeutic decisions for the pharmaceutical industry (Roche, Servier, BI, Amgen, Celgene).
