Professor Udaya K. Ranawaka MBBS, MD, MRCP, FRCP (Lond), FCCP, FAHA, FAAN Professor Udaya Ranawaka is Professor in Neurology at the University of Kelaniya, and Honorary Consultant Neurologist and Head of the Stroke Unit at the Colombo North Teaching Hospital, Ragama, Sri Lanka. He is a Fellow of the Ceylon College of Physicians, Royal College of Physicians of London, American Stroke Association and the American Academy of Neurology. He is a Past President of the National Stroke Association of Sri Lanka, Association of Sri Lankan Neurologists and the Ceylon College of Physicians. He is the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Clinical Trials Registry and is a Member of the Advisory Group of the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, WHO. He is the National Coordinator of the SITS International Stroke Registry Network for Sri Lanka. He has been a National Coordinator/Principal Investigator in several international clinical trials and research collaborations on stroke. He has won over 30 national and international research awards. He has delivered eight named orations and over 120 invited lectures at national and international scientific meetings. He has several book chapters, over 80 peer-reviewed journal publications and over 90 research abstracts to his credit.

Professor Anna Ranta is a Wellington New Zealand based academic stroke neurologist whose research focuses on translational stroke research to optimise stroke care quality and access with a strong emphasis on addressing health inequities. Her main area of clinical and research expertise is in hyper-acute stroke therapies, but she also has experience in stroke epidemiology, health economics, workforce, and rehabilitation research. Her work to date has resulted in 200+ peer reviewed publications. She has led several large research programmes and also collaborates widely with others across Australasia and globally. She is the Head of Department of Medicine at University of Otago, Wellington, leads the New Zealand National Stroke Registry, and co-leads the New Zealand National Stroke Clot Retrieval Service Improvement Programme via a Ministry of Health position. She is the immediate past Chair of the New Zealand National Stroke Network, the current President of the Neurological Association of New Zealand, the Treasurer of Stroke Society of Australasia, Board Member of the World Stroke Organization, and serves on the editorial boards of Stroke and Neurology.

Mathew Reeves, BVSc, PhD, FAHA Professor of Epidemiology Mathew Reeves is a Professor of Epidemiology at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, USA. His research interests center on quality of care and outcomes in stroke patients using large clinical stroke registries such as the national Get-With-The–Guidelines-Stroke program and the Michigan Coverdell Acute Stroke Registry. He is also actively involved in studying care transitions through the MISTT study (Michigan Stroke Transitions Trial) - a Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) funded trial. This trial tested the effects of case management support through a combination of visiting social workers and educational support through a patient-centered website. The MISTT trial involves the collection, analysis, and interpretation of several PROMIS-based patient-reported outcome measures. His methodological training includes a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, USA), his public health training includes working at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Atlanta, GA, and his clinical training includes degrees in veterinary medicine from the University of Liverpool, UK and Colorado State University, USA. He has authored over 270 peer-review publications. He mentors undergraduate and graduate-level students, teaches evidence-based medicine to medical students, cardiovascular disease epidemiology to graduate students, and research methods to clinical fellows and residents.
