Sebastian Kienle
Triathlon
Sebastian Kienle (born 6 July 1984) is considered on of the best triathletes in the world for over s decade. Kienle was exposed to the sport of triathlon for the first time at the age of 8 and then knew that he wanted to grow up to be a professional triathlete. He began competing in triathlons at the age of 12. In 2012, Kienle was able to use his strong bike talent to propel himself to a victory in 2012 at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. He placed 4th a month later at the 2012 Ironman World Championships, posting the second fastest bike split of the day - despite incurring a flat tire. The following year, in 2013, he posted somewhat lackluster results during the season; however, Kienle defended his Ironman 70.3 title by winning the 2013 World Championship race. His biggest success came just a year later in 2014 where he won 2014 Ironman World Championships. Sebastian then went on to win many more races all over the world. For more than a decade he is now one of the best and most consistent triathletes in the world.

neurosurgery
Since my graduation from the bachelor Biomedical Sciences at Maastricht University, Netherlands, I have been studying Medicine at Radboud University in Nijmegen, Netherlands. I completed the excellence program of Biomedical Sciences which allowed me to further develop my research skills. Recently, I have also been selected for the honours program of Medical Sciences which gives me the opportunity to extend my knowledge on functional neurosurgery and neuromodulation. I am working on several research projects including spinal cord stimulation and occipital nerve stimulation within the department of Neurosurgery of the Radboud University Medical Center. Soon I hope to start my PhD research which will be focused on cingulotomy for central pain.

Dr. Koulousakis is a highly skilled Neurosurgery specialist with expertise in spinal conditions and neuropathic pain. After obtaining his medical degree from the Albertus-Magnus-Universität zu Köln in 2008, he pursued advanced training, including internships in Stereotaxy and Functional Neurosurgery. Dr. Koulousakis completed his doctoral thesis on chronic pain treatment using pulsed radiofrequency at the University Hospital Köln. Currently, as a Senior Physician at Algesiologikum GmbH Munich, he specializes in Neuromodulation at the Zentrum für Neuromodulation, Diakoniewerk München Maxvorstadt, where he contributes his extensive education and expertise to the fields of Neurosurgery and pain management.

Neurosurgery
Professor Joachim K. Krauss is Director and Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Hannover Medical School, Germany, since 2005. He received his MD degree at the Medical Faculty of the University of Freiburg, Germany, for his experimental work in neuropharmacology of the basal ganglia. He trained in neurology, and later in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery, and general neurosurgery with Professors Mundinger and Seeger in Freiburg. Thereafter, he moved to Houston, Texas, to collaborate with Drs Grossman and Jankovic. He went back to Europe to establish functional neurosurgery in Berne, Switzerland, and in Mannheim, Germany, where he served as Vice Chairman from 1999 to 2005. His clinical routine includes functional neurosurgery, complex spine, skull base, microvascular decompression, neurooncology and hydrocephalus. Prof. Krauss has been President of the European Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (ESSFN) from 2010 to 2014, and of the World Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (WSSFN) from 2013 to 2017. He also served as President of the German Academy for Neurosurgery from 2018 to 2019. He is an active member of several international societies, committees and advisory boards. One of his missions is to bridge the gap between Neurosurgery and Neurology why he is also active in the Movement Disorders Society where he served as chair/ co-chair in several tasks forces and working groups: Neurosurgery; Deep Brain Stimulation for Dystonia; Neuromodulation for Gait and Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. He has published more than 600 scientific manuscripts and book chapters, and he has edited four books in the field of functional neurosurgery. He introduced pallidal deep brain stimulation for cervical dystonia in 1997, and spinal cord stimulation for orthostatic tremor in 2002. He received several awards including the Oppenheim prize for his work in dystonia and the Tasker award for his contributions to functional neurosurgery. In the past few years he put a particular focus on education and training. He is a member of the ESSFN training committee and chair of the WSSFN education committee.
University Hospital Heidelberg
Neurosurgery
Third year neurosurgery resident at Heidelberg University Hospital, exploring the signature of pain using advanced neurophysiological methods (EEG/MEG/fNIRS) to ultimately help develop new approaches in neuromodulatory pain therapy. After completing my dental studies and deciding to pursue a second degree in medicine, my path led me back to neurophysiological research. More than 8 years of experience in the field of pain research and the opportunity to be part of the Heidelberg Pain Consortium as a young scientist, my aim is to uncover changes in the cortical pain network under SCS therapy and thus contribute to a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms. My research focuses on evoked and induced oscillatory brain responses and connectivity analyses in patients and healthy subjects.
