Dr. Brook Niemiec is a 1994 graduate of the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He is a Board Certified specialist in Veterinary Dentistry as well as a Fellow in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry. He also currently serves as president of the AVD and is recognized internationally as one of the leading authorities in Veterinary Dentistry. Dr. Niemiec is the Chief of Staff of Southern California Veterinary Dental Specialties, with practices in San Diego, Irvine, Ontario, and Murrieta California as well as Las Vegas, Nevada. His primary practice, located in central San Diego, opened this February as part of the International Center for the Advancement of Veterinary Dentistry. This center provides state of the art dental care for all animal patients, as well as worldwide dental training, publishing, and teleradiology. An advocate for improved understanding, prevention and treatment of disease, Dr. Niemiec lectures extensively at local, national, and international meetings, and has presented in over 25 countries. He is thrilled to return to WSAVA where he has lectured twice previously. Dr. Niemiec is also the director of the San Diego Veterinary Dental Training Center. Ladislav graduated from the Veterinary University in Brno, Czech Republic in 2001, followed by combined residency and PhD in anatomic pathology focused on fish pathology at the same school in 2004. Afterwards he became lecturer and in 2011 Associate Professor of Anatomic Pathology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Brno. Between 2010 and 2012 he completed MSc program in Aquaculture and Hydrobiology at Mendel University in Brno. Ladislav joined British diagnostic laboratory Finn Pathologists in 2013 and successfully passed board exams of Royal College of Pathologists and became FRCPath in 2016. Ladislav is a recognized specialist of Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in veterinary pathology since 2020. His main interest is a diagnostic pathology in dogs, cats and aquatic animals. Ladislav is also a fish health practitioner dealing mainly with koi carps and ornamental fish. Ladislav is a WAVMA certified aquatic veterinarian and Diplomate of European College of Aquatic Animal Health.
