Astrid Karnøe Knudsen is Head of Data Science in Hedia ApS. She holds a PhD in Digital Health from University of Copenhagen, Denmark. With more than 10 years experience working with health informatics, she is specialised in patient-oriented digital health and in translating real-world data into product features and evidence. Together with the rest of Hedia, Astrid works to develop personalised digital therapeutics for people with insulin-requiring diabetes. Hedia Diabetes Assistant is a class IIb medical device that provides users with bolus calculations via a modified algorithm that allows for physical activity to be included in the calculation. The next generation of Hedia Diabetes Assistant combines current product features with AI-based methods to deliver adaptive and actionable glucose forecasts that aim to support proactive self-management behaviour.

FRANCINE KAUFMAN, MD Francine R. Kaufman, M.D. is the Chief Medical Officer of Senseonics, Inc. (2019- present). Previously, she was the CMO and VP of Global Clinical, Medical and Regulatory Affairs at Medtronic Diabetes (2009-2019), during which time the first automated insulin delivery system was commercialized. She is a Distinguished Professor Emerita of Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and prior Division Head of Endocrinology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She has authored over 290 peer-reviewed and invited articles, and numerous books including Diabesity (Bantam, 2005), The Medical Management of Type 1 Diabetes(ADA, 2008), The Insulin Pump and Continuous Glucose Monitoring Book: For Patients, Parents and aregivers(ADA, 2012, 2017) and Rhythms (a novel) (CKI Publisher, 2015). She has received numerous grants, including being funded by the NIH for over 3 decades. She was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2005. Dr. Kaufman was national president of the ADA (2002-2003). Shedirecteddiabetes camps in Southern California, cuador,and Haiti for over 30 years. She was instrumental in banning sodas from LA Unified School District in 2004.

David Kerr William Sansum Diabetes Center, Santa Barbara, CA, USA David Kerr received his medical degree from Aberdeen University in Scotland, UK, and spent two years as a Research Fellow at Yale University, USA. Between 1993 and 2014, he was a Consultant Physician in Internal Medicine/Endocrinology at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in the UK. For his clinical work, Dr Kerr was awarded a Gold Clinical Excellence award by the UK National Health Service. In 2014, Dr Kerr became the Director of Research and Innovation at the Sansum Diabetes Research Institute (SDRI), USA. He is the digital health lead for the Diabetes Technology Society and co-Editor of the first book on digital health and diabetes. Dr Kerr launched the Mil Familias and Latino Diabetes programs at SDRI as part of an initiative to reduce the burden of cardio-metabolic disease affecting US Hispanic/Latino families. He also launched the Farming for Life program at SDRI, which examines the impact of medical prescriptions for vegetables among adults with Type 2 diabetes. In 2017, Dr Kerr was awarded the Leadership Award from the Diabetes Technology Society and, in 2020, was awarded by the Pacific Coast Business Times for his work aimed at reducing the impact of SARS-2-CoV for the Latino community in the US.
