Henk-Jan Aanstoot (1957) is a pediatric diabetologist. After medical training at Erasmus Medical University MedCenter in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and military service he started his training in pediatrics at Sophia Children’s Hospital (ErasmusMC, Rotterdam 1985). After completion (1989) he went to the Hagedorn Research Lab (Copenhagen, DK) to join the research group of Dr. Steinunn Baekkeskov. The work was continued atUCSF Hormone Research Institute, San Francisco (EASD Albert Renold fellowship, Royal Dutch Academy ofSciences Termeulen fellowship and a NovoNordisk Research Grant) and included the identification of the 64kD antigen as Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase (GAD). In 1992 he (re)joined in the pediatric diabetesclinic and –reseachgroup of the late Prof. Jan Bruining, defended his PhD thesis (cum Laude) and from 2000-2006 was president of the Dutch Diabetes Federation (NDF). In 2006 he cofounded ‘Diabeter’, a focussed diabetes clinic and Research center. Diabeter was acquired in 2015 by Medtronic but remains as a brand-agnostic, focused, value-based healthcare driven clinic. Since jan 2022 he is clinical research director and focusses on research and development. Awards include the Erasmus University Research Prize (1994) and the National Diabetes Research Award (1995, Gerritzen-award), Value-Based healthcare Europe Prize (2017) and received a Royal Medal of Honour (Officier Oranje Nassau) in 2017.

Giada Acciaroli is a Staff Data Scientist at Dexcom. Giada joined Dexcom in September 2018, just after receiving her Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Padova, Italy, with a research project focused on signal processing and data modelling applied to the diabetes technology field. Giada now works as part of the data science team at Dexcom, developing innovative data products to drive value creation across the business and to enable a tailored data-driven experience for every Dexcom customer.

Dr. Peter Adolfsson is a Senior Physician at the hospitals of Halland, Kungsbacka and Halmstad. He received his medical training at the Sahlgrenska Academy of the Gothenburg University and, subsequently, went on to specialize in Pediatrics, Sports Medicine and Endocrinology. His scientific activities focus on the impact of diabetes technology, exercise and diabetes in general and sometimes physical activity beneath surface – scuba diving. Peter is the first author of the latest ISPAD Clinical Practice Consensus Guidelines related to Exercise. Peter is one of the original founders of Diasend and participated as a board member until the merge with Glooko 2016 and in 2017 he received the ISPAD Prize for Innovation due to this work. Peter leads courses in diabetes technology and has created educational guides regarding the use of rtCGM and isCGM - always stating that technology must be used appropriately to give the best results. During the last 3 years Peter has focused on implementing digital health in diabetes care and this has also been evaluated in a randomized controlled study.

Ramzi Ajjan, MD, FRCP, MMed.Sci, PhD, is a Professor of Metabolic Medicine at Leeds University and Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. He obtained his PhD from the University of Sheffield and completed his clinical training in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. He obtained a NIHR Clinician Scientist Award in 2005 and was employed the same year by the University of Leeds and Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust as Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology. He runs a programme of basic, translational and clinical research, aiming to improve clinical outcome in patients with diabetes and metabolic disease. His clinical practice is concentrated on managing young adults with type 1 diabetes, complex patients with type 2 diabetes and individuals with thyroid eye disease. He is the local R&D lead for diabetes and endocrinology in Leeds and regional Clinical Research Network co-lead in diabetes, endocrine and metabolic disorders. He is deputy Chair of Clinical Study Group 2 at Diabetes UK and Associate Editor of Diabetes and Vascular Disease Research.
