Tanja is Director General of External Affairs at Medtech Europe. She is responsible for the organisation’s Communications and Government Affairs and Public Policy work, and forms part of the Executive Leadership Team. With regards to diabetes, Tanja leads MedTech Europe’s engagement in this important area. MedTech Europe has a senior-level Diabetes Working Group, which brings together 9 leading companies active in diabetes and committed to advancing diabetes management for the benefit of people living with this chronic condition. Tanja has been involved in various EU policies relevant to the medical technology sector, amongst them the revision of the EU regulations for medical devices and in vitro diagnostics, the EU regulation on Health Technology Assessment, as well as EU initiatives on digital, innovation and environment. With her team, she leads MedTech Europe’s engagement and cooperation with the stakeholder community in Brussels based on the overarching spirit of being a constructive partner in addressing the present healthcare demands that Europe is facing. Before joining MedTech Europe, Tanja was working with the European Parliament. She is an economist by training and speaks German, English and French. She lives with her husband and daughter in Brussels, Belgium.

Robert A. Vigersky, M.D. is Chief Medical Officer of Medtronic Diabetes and Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He was the Valedictorian of Boston University School of Medicine, did his Internal Medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Endocrinology Fellowship at NIH. His career has included Academia (Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director of the Diabetes Treatment Center at Georgetown University Hospital), private practice, and Industry (Medtronic). Dr. Vigersky served in Iraq, Korea, and Germany and held the rank of Colonel before retiring from the Army in 2015. He received numerous military awards including the Legion of Merit in 2009. He was a member of the VA/DoD guideline committee for Diabetes and represented the Department of Defense on the Advisory Council of the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Disease. He continues to volunteer at Walter Reed. He has been an active participant in the Endocrine Society. He established its Clinical Practice Guideline Committee serving as its Chair for 6 years and served as Endocrine Society President from 2009-2010. He has also been active in the Diabetes Technology Society which gave him its Leadership Award in 2011. Dr. Vigersky has published over 310 scholarly papers and abstracts focusing on the use of technology to improve outcomes of patients with diabetes. He serves on the Editorial Board of Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics.

Dr. Margaretha Visser (14-02-1987, the Netherlands) obtained a master’s degree in Medicine at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in 2011, and graduated as an endocrinologist at the University Medical Center Groningen in 2018. She then moved to Belgium to start a PhD at the department of Endocrinology, University Hospitals Leuven–KU Leuven. Her PhD focuses on the use of continuous glucose monitoring in type 1 diabetes, and is supervised by Prof. Pieter Gillard and Prof. Chantal Mathieu.
