Astrid Karnøe Knudsen is Head of Data Science in Hedia ApS. She holds a PhD in Digital Health
from University of Copenhagen, Denmark. With more than 10 years experience working with
health informatics, she is specialised in patient-oriented digital health and in translating real-world
data into product features and evidence.
Together with the rest of Hedia, Astrid works to develop personalised digital therapeutics for
people with insulin-requiring diabetes. Hedia Diabetes Assistant is a class IIb medical device that
provides users with bolus calculations via a modified algorithm that allows for physical activity to
be included in the calculation.
The next generation of Hedia Diabetes Assistant combines current product features with
AI-based methods to deliver adaptive and actionable glucose forecasts that aim to support
proactive self-management behaviour.
