My research interest and expertise lie in the fields of emergency prehospital unscheduled care, primary care, and interventions to reduce unequal access to health care, especially among vulnerable groups (high intensity callers to the ambulance service, asylum seekers and refugees and early years and looked after children). My research is pragmatic, as it addresses the socio-economic determinants of health, and leads to real change and impact in the world of policy and practice. I plan, design and carry out evaluations of health technologies and new models of service delivery, which often involves changing roles and working in and across different services (health, social care and the Third Sector). I believe research should be conducted with people and not ‘done’ to people. My research seeks to reflect the priorities which the beneficiaries (study population or services) have identified and co-produce study outputs that improve health and social outcomes.
