Abstract

Objectives

Objectives: To change the way psychiatrists and other clinicians who are working with people with Psychosis Spectrum Disorders from a highly focused medical model method to a humble biopsychosocial broad approach to help disabled patients regain hope and reclaim their lives as well as much more satisfaction for clinicians.

Methods

Methods: Lessons leaned from 11 worldwide very long-term studies, the field of psychiatric rehabilitation, as well as on-the-ground programs in Bogotá, Colombia.

Results

Results: 49-68% significant improvement and even full recoveries occurred across studies. Colombian programs, called “Accompanied Self-rehabilitation” and Fungrata, have revealed how to do the work required with other examples from across the world. Conclusions: In a paradoxical twist of treatment strategies, building on strengths of all parties instead of psychopathology and prior professional beliefs, all involved can watch transformations occur toward health and the achievement of satisfying lives. In addition, everyone should have access to the evidence-based psychosocial programs and the innovative consumer-led programs now available.

Conclusions

Accompanied selfrehabilitation previously called accompanied autonalysis has show 4 crucial elements that are always incuded in succesful cases of recovery:

1. Acknowledging all that science ignores about the way the brain and the mind work.

2. Assuming that the person who is suffering from whatever problem has to become the real leader of all the recovery process

3. Becoming an expert in his/ her condition.

4. Redesigning his lifestyle according to that knowledge
