Abstract
Objectives
Schizophrenia affects approximately 21 million people in the world, it is usually more common in men than in women. Its treatment is generally pharmacological but recently, different rehabilitation programs have been designed to target social and psychosocial cognitive domain. However, the results are not very clear in the face of positive or negative results on the patients. A literature review was carried in order to analyse information about the schizophrenia non pharmacological rehabilitation sate of art.
Methods
The search took place August 13, 2020. With the following terms: (schizophrenia) AND (rehabilitation OR therapy) AND (language OR "social cognition") AND (adults NOT children) Filters: Full text, 5 years, Adult: 19 + years N = 197.
Results
Articles that mentioned drug treatment and specific characteristics of schizophrenia were excluded, n = 55. The most common interventions were: cognitive remediation n = 14, cognitive behavioral rehabilitation n = 8 and Training in cognitive social skills n = 7.
Conclusions
The combinations of these interventions such as Rehacop, cognitive remediation integrated, generate positive results that impacts neuro cognition, social cognition and social functioning. It is important to notice the importance of rehabilitation programs to enhance cognitive and social skills in those patients.
