Urbanism/Landscape Architecture
Dr Ir Inge Bobbink I am an associate professor at the section of Landscape Architecture since 2007, in the department of Urbanism at the Technical University Delft at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment in the Netherlands. I hold a post-master degree from the Berlage Institute and obtained my PhD at Delft for the dissertation entitles "The Landscape Architecture of the Polder-boezem system, structure and form of the water network, water pattern and water work in the Dutch lowlands". In cooperation with others, I wrote, developed and since 2010 coordinate the educational program for the master track of Landscape Architecture. In addition, I teach and supervise master and PhD students, lecture internationally, and take part in the department's management team and different advisory boards. My research focuses on identifying landscape architectonic and sustainable values in (traditional) water systems worldwide. The goal is to learn from them and to transform this knowledge for today's challenges. Prof. dr. ir. Atze Boerstra is managing director of bba binnenmilieu, a consultancy company that specializes in indoor air quality and thermal comfort. Since March 2021 he also is Chair of Building Services Innovation at the faculty Architecture and the Built Environment of the Delft University of Technology. Atze is vice-president of REHVA (the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Associations). In May 2022 he will act as president of the international congress CLIMA 2022, which will be held in Rotterdam (NL). In 2015/2016 he was guest researcher at CTSB Paris and involved e.g. in the evaluation of the French data that were gathered in relation to the EU OFFICAIR project. He is specialist in healthy building, building installation optimization and HVAC system design and operation. He has extensive experience with the investigation of indoor climate problems in buildings and is regularly involved as a consultant in new construction and renovation projects that aim to create an above average healthy & productivity-enhancing indoor environment. He also regularly is involved in the development of new standards and guidelines. Furthermore, he publishes regularly in both professional and scientific journals. Atze studied mechanical engineering at Delft University of Technology and he received a Master Degrees there at the climate control department. At a later age he obtained his PhD at the Faculty of Architecture of Eindhoven University of Technology (subject: 'Personal Control over Indoor Climate in Offices'). Before setting up bba indoor environment in 1996, he worked for the occupational health and safety service of the Dutch government (based in The Hague) and for Hal Levin & Associates (Santa Cruz, California).

Sylvia Grace Borda is a climate artist and founder of C.A.R.E (Climate Arts for Resilient Environments/climatearts.ca) and inaugural recipient of the Women4Climate(W4C) award (Vancouver 2019). Sylvia regularly speaks on the visual arts in supporting sustainability across urban planning and farming (IUCN 2016, Venice Architectural Biennale 2015: https://vimeo.com/127147907). She is further passionate about the arts championing food access and sovereignty in cities (see: https://www.surrey.ca/sites/default/files/media/documents/Shifting%20Prespectives.pdf) Sylvia is currently artist co-lead on a British Council COP26 Creative Climate Commission, Trees for Life, an international partnership with Dundee City Council (Scotland) and partners in Canada and Ethiopia. Key outcomes involve establishing a community tree nursery in Kofele (Ethiopia) with partner ROBA, creating Earth observation artworks, and fostering a global movement around equity and tree planting. Sylvia has led numerous commissions for community climate change projects (Snow Cameras, Finland 2016) and civic heritage tree preservation (Latvia 2017). Tomas is a PhD candidate at the School of Architecture of the University of Queensland, Australia. His thesis explores urbanisation’s alteration of the natural water cycle and ways to restore it using urban design. He proposes a novel indicator framework for assessing and designing water-sensitive urban precincts. This framework is based on a spatial model of the urban water cycle -the Waterspace model, presented here-, which has been tested on an existing precinct in Brisbane. Tomas is a trained architect and urban planner, and also holds a MSc in Water and Coastal Management. His main research interests are in urban sustainability, adaptation to climate change, and coastal management and planning. He has already deposited his thesis and is currently working at the environmental consultancy Salt, in Lofoten, Norway, where he investigates climate risks and alternative adaptation pathways for Norwegian municipalities, among other pressing environmental issues for coastal communities.

Kobie has more than 25 years of practical and managerial experience in Environmental Management and Urban Development. Her expertise ranges from biodiversity, climate change, coastal management to urban sustainability and planning. She is responsible for the strategic direction, growth, partnerships, programmes and scope of work for ICLEI in Africa, as well as for ICLEI’s global biodiversity and nature-based solutions work and related agendas. This includes the global CitiesWithNature partnership initiative and ICLEI’s One Health, and water and sanitation initiatives.

Borjan Brankov is a research assistant at the Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia. He is currently doing his PhD thesis focused on temporary and collective use of common areas in multi-family housing in Serbia at the Architecture Faculty University of Belgrade (from 2015). He completed his MSc in Architecture and BSc in Architecture from the Architecture Faculty University of Belgrade (2010-2013; 2013-2015). He was part of various research projects and spatial and urban plans that include urban development and public participation. He contributed in different international research projects including ConnectGreen (2018-2021), Clever (2019) and Attractive Danube (2017-2019) - all from the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme and national project of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia (2016-2020). Dr. Ogenis Brilhante (PhD. Environmental Science, University Paris XII, Paris 1999 is the Head of the IHS Green City and Infrastructure (IGC) thematic area which includes the master specialization “Managing and Financing Infrastructure for Green Cities (MFUI)” and the professional short course "Green city for Eco Efficiency”. He is civil and sanitary engineer with a bachelor in Business management and PhD (honours) in environment science. He has more than 20 years of experience in capacity building and advisory projects focused on environmental planning and infrastructure fields including climate change, green infrastructure, sustainable development, water management and sustainable energy. He has completed more than 50 assignments in more than 25 developing and transitional countries working for different bilateral and multilateral agencies as well as governments and non-governmental organizations. He has a certification on ISO 14001, he is the author of two books: one on urban environment planning and management and the other on environmental impact assessment and management. Dr Emma Campbell is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Architecture, at the School of Natural and Built Environment, Queen’s University, Belfast. Her research focuses on future relationships between people, food, and place through the lens of sustainability. As a design-researcher, she is really interested in how design and systems-thinking might help to solve some of the wicked problems inherent in food systems today. Currently, Emma works within the Innovate UK funded Ideal Home project in partnership with Moy Park, the UK’s largest poultry integrator. The project applies a research-by-design methodology to consider how the UK’s poultry farming sector might improve welfare and achieve net-zero emissions. Emma’s recently completed Ph.D. research applies a similar methodology to consider the emergence, development, and future of supermarket shopping. Her final thesis brings together thematic insights to reimagine a range of different food-retail futures. An experience public speaker, Emma has presented her ideas on sustainable food systems at conferences and workshops globally and locally, from Doha to Vancouver, Nicosia to Belfast. In Spring 2021, she recorded a TEDx talk called ‘Can bees help us to design sustainable supermarkets?’ which discusses how the principles of circularity might be embedded in a future food shopping experience.

Sangram Chavan was born at Karad (Satara) in the state of Maharashtra on 7th December 1987. He obtained a Ph.D. (Forestry) degree from CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar (Haryana) in 2019, M.Sc. (Forestry) from FCRI, TNAU, Coimbatore (TN) in 2011, and BSc (Forestry) from College of Forestry, Dr. BSKKV, Dapoli in 2009. He was also selected as Agricultural Research Service of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India during 2013 at the age of 25 years. He has served as a Scientist (Forestry) at ICAR-Central Agroforestry Research Institute, Jhansi (UP), and recently transferred to ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati. For the last 9 years, he is working on various aspects of agroforestry research and developments mainly concentrated on biomass and carbon modelling, livelihood security, production of quality planting material, and climate change. His major research contribution was to quantify India’s agroforestry area and carbon sequestration potentials on the country level. He has published more than 25 research articles in international & national pee-reviewed journals (current science, springer, Elsevier) 10 book chapters, and more than 10 popular and technical bulletins on the agroforestry arena. He also authored two famous books; one is “Competitive Forestry” for ARS, NET, CET, state services, and UGC exams for students and the second is “Promising Agroforestry Tree Species in India” published by ICAR, New Delhi & ICRAF, Kenya for detailed package & practices of industrial important agroforestry species. He also guided two Msc students of Bundelkhand University, Jhansi (UP). During his short research span of 8 years, he worked as PI & CoPI in projects on climate change, biomass modelling, biofuels, tree improvements, and impact assessments of Soil & water conservation activities, etc. He has developed an android based application “FarmTree” for agroforestry practitioners, students, policymakers, and various stakeholders. He has co-organized one of meg-event 3 rd World Congress on Agroforestry” at New Delhi. He is an editorial member for the Journal of Tree Sciences published by the Indian Society of Tree Sciences and acting as a reviewer in many springers, Tylor & Francis, Elsevier, and Current Science. Currently, he is working on sandalwood based agroforestry for higher-income generations in degraded lands.
