He is Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and Professor of Cardiology at Houston Methodist Academic Institute. Dr Nasir was recently appointed as Visiting Professor at London School of Economics. In his prior tenure he served as Director of Population Health & Health System Research at Yale University School of Medicine (2018-2019) as well as Director Center for Health Advancement & Outcomes at Baptist Health South Florida (2012-2018). Dr. Nasir received his MD from Allama Iqbal Medical College, followed by Master’s degree in public health at John Hopkins University. Dr. Nasir completed his internal medicine residency at Boston Medical Center and cardiology fellowship at Yale University. He also received postdoctoral research training at the division of cardiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and was recipient of NIH T-32 fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University. In 2017, he earned a Master’s degree in Health Economics and Policy Management from London School of Economics & Political Science. He has published more than 850 high impact articles published in top academic journals with h-index of >100. His research has majorly impacted prevention guidelines worldwide on the use of coronary artery calcium testing and especially the role of Power of CAC zero. His NIH funded clinical and research interests in lies in role of precision medicine and novel imaging tools for cardiovascular disease risk assessment and tailored management to prevent risk of heart disease. He is currently Associate Editor for the journal “Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes”. He has served on the board of Directors for Society of Cardiac CT (SCCT) & American Society of Preventive Cardiology (ASPC). In recognition of his contributions, he was recognized with 1) the “Johns Hopkins Distinguished Alumni Award” in 2013, which honors alumni who have typified the Johns Hopkins tradition of excellence and brought credit to the University by their personal accomplishment, professional achievement, or humanitarian services, 2) “Arthur S. Agatston Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Award” in 2020 that recognizes individuals whose pioneering efforts have saved lives from the leading killer throughout the world, coronary artery disease.

Professor Steve Nicholls is the inaugural Director of the Victorian Heart Institute and a Professor of Cardiology at Monash University. He is the Director at MonashHeart and is also the inaugural Director of the Victorian Heart Hospital which opened in February 2023. Professor Nicholls is a preventive cardiologist. His clinical interest is focused on identifying those at risk of heart disease earlier, and more effectively, and preventing catastrophic cardiovascular events from occurring. He is committed to solutions which improve equity across risk and management, focusing on women’s heart health and other under-served populations. His work spans the translational spectrum from the lab bench to the bedside, with a focus on understanding the factors that promote plaque formation, novel vascular imaging and leadership of large-scale clinical trials of new therapies designed to reduce the risk of heart disease. He is Chair of the Australian Atherosclerosis Society Clinical Council, Australia and New Zealand Alliance for Cardiovascular Trials, Asia Pacific Cardiometabolic Consortium, President of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.
