Antonio Gallo is Head of the Lipid Clinic and Cardiovascular Prevention Unit and Associate Professor at Sorbonne University, Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, France. After completing his training in Internal Medicine at Sapienza University of Rome, he obtained a PhD in Physiology, Physiopathology and Therapeutics at Sorbonne University. His clinical activity focuses on the diagnostic and therapeutic management of genetic dyslipidaemias, with a specific interest in homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (HoFH) and familial chylomicronaemia syndrome. His research interests include lipid metabolism, severe forms of genetic dyslipidaemias, residual risk in primary and secondary prevention, and imaging in atherosclerosis. His current projects focus on non-invasive coronary imaging and residual risk in FH. He is involved in several randomized, placebo-controlled trials on novel lipid-lowering treatments. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications. He is a member of European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS), New French Atherosclerosis Society (NSFA), and is involved in an EAS-endorsed consortia HoFH International Clinical Collaboration (HICC) and FH Studies Collaboration (FHSC).

Interventional Cardiology
As a trained interventional cardiologist with over 12 years of research experience, I am privileged to have an extensive background and expertise in the study of cardiovascular disease, heart failure, coronary artery disease, structural heart disease and physiology, imaging, and treatment modalities. I currently serve as Scientific Lead with the MedStar Cardiovascular Research Network and Director of the Cardiovascular Core Laboratory and Clinical Event Committee at the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute (MHVI). I am also an attending cardiologist at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) in addition to serving as a Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University. Prior to joining MHVI medical staff, I served as the director of the Core Lab of Invasive Imaging at Cardialysis, a leading cardiology clinical research organization, and as a researcher at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, Netherlands and Inselspital in Bern, Switzerland. As a researcher, I have been widely published (n=>850) in renowned international medical journals, authored book chapters in cardiovascular textbooks, and presented at cardiology conferences worldwide (h-index = 91). I have been involved in multiple successful clinical research studies that have resulted in peer-reviewed publications in notable journals.

Dr Gaudet is the Scientific Director of the UdeM Community Genetic Medicine Center and its Clinical Lipidology and Rare Lipid Disorders Unit. He is currently President and Scientific Director of ECOGENE-21, a not-for-profit organization devoted to access to innovation in precision medicine. His main clinical and academic activities aim at investigating rare dyslipidaemias and translating new knowledge from extreme phenotypes to more common forms of diseases. He has coordinated more than 200 studies involving the development of screening tools, technologies or therapies for severe dyslipidaemias or related disorders in collaboration with biotech, pharmaceutical or academic partners. He has authored more than 300 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, including many in highly rated journals (NEJM, Lancet, Nature Medicine, Nature Genetics), and more than 500 scientific communications or book chapters.

Norbert Gerdes is a cardiovascular immune-biologist with a long-term interest in cellular and systemic mechanisms of human disease. After studying Biology in Münster and Cologne he obtained his PhD at Harvard Medical School and Cologne University studying immune mechanisms in atherosclerosis. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm he led research groups at RWTH Aachen and LMU Munich and became Professor of Vascular Biology at Heinrich-Heine-University in Düsseldorf. His group explores cellular interaction in chronic and acute cardiovascular disease such as atherosclerosis, aortic aneurysm and myocardial infarction. The focus of this work lays on dissecting the differential role of the immune system in these pathologies. In particular, deciphering the heterogeneity, spatio-temporal activity, and functional interaction of resident and immune cells within affected tissues and organs is of outmost interest. We address these questions using state-of-the-art experimental models in vivo and in vitro combined with novel imaging and single cell technology. Investigating the contribution of co-stimulatory molecules (e.g., CD40/CD40L, CD27) to cardiovascular disease is a long-lasting and continuing interest of his research.

Dr. Anton Gisterå is a team leader at the Department of Medicine Solna, Karolinska Institutet. He received his M.D. from Uppsala University in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Medicine from Karolinska Institutet in 2016. His research team focuses on the immunology of atherosclerosis with investigations of adaptive immune reactions against low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and immune control over cholesterol metabolism. By understanding the dynamic interplay between vascular immune reactions and lipoproteins, the goal is to find new therapeutic targets as well as be able to stratify cardiovascular patients according to LDL autoimmune status and plaque characteristics to accurately adapt treatments and follow-up.
