Deborah Jo Levine MD, FCCP is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCSA). She is the Medical Director of the Lung Transplant Program and the Medical Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Center at UTHSCSA. She attended medical school at the University of Arizona and completed her internship and residency and pulmonary fellowship in Arizona. She did her critical care fellowship and a one- year fellowship in lung transplantation and interventional pulmonary at UTHSCSA. She joined the faculty at UT following her training. The focus of her work, whether it be clinical practice, teaching and educating, or research efforts has concentrated in the areas of Lung Transplantation and Pulmonary Vascular Disease. Her research interests and work have concentrated on the evaluation and therapy of antibody-mediated rejection in lung transplantation and in lung donor management. She is also involved in multiple Pulmonary Hypertension studies. From a teaching standpoint, she is very involved with daily teaching of house staff as well as involved in education at a national level. Dr. Levine has been very involved in CHEST serving as the past chair of the Lung Transplant Network and on the Pulmonary Vascular Network Steering committee. She has been actively involved in many areas of CHEST including multiple education projects, the membership committee, PH guidelines committee, the scientific abstracts and awards committee, manuscript review of CHEST, and the Co-Chair of the Pulmonary Board Review Course.
