Palmiero Monteleone is Full Professor of Psychiatry at the Department of Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry “Scuola Medica Salernitana” of the University of Salerno since January 2011. He coordinates the clinical and research activities of the Eating Disorders Center of the Campania Region at the University of Naples “Luigi Vanvitelli”. He is the Director of the PhD Course on “Translation Medicine of Development and Active Aging” at the University of Salerno. He has been Chair (2008-2014) and Co-chair (2005-2008; 2014-2018) of the Eating Disorders Section of the World Psychiatric Association; he is Chair of the Eating Disorders Section of the European Psychiatric Association (2018-present). He has been member of the ICD-11 Expert Consultation Group on the Classification of Feeding and Eating Disorders of the World Health Organization, member of the Expert Consultation Group of the Italian Ministry of Health on Eating Disorders, and member of Task Force on Eating Disorders of the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry. He has been Secretary (2011-2019) and he is President (2019-present) of the Italian Society of Eating Psychopathology (SIPA). He is member of the editorial boards of some international scientific journals including Psychoneuroendocrinology, International Journal of Eating Disorders, Neuropsychobiology, European Eating Disorders Review, Nutrients. In 2014 he has been awarded by Expertscape as the best Italian Researcher and Clinician in the field of Eating Disorders. He has published more than 300 papers in international and national scientific journals and some monographs.
