Dr Takashima is the CEO and founder of the Animal Care Group of Lake Oswego, a small-animal, collaborative practice in Lake Oswego, Oregon, USA. A frequent participant in organized medicine, Dr Takashima has spoken throughout the country and world, on the value of Standards of Care in elevating veterinary care and as a link to strengthening the relationships people have with animals. He also speaks on veterinary nutrition and promotes the concept of One Health His involvement with the World Small Animal Veterinary Association is a product of the belief that active global collaboration is needed to further these goals. He is the past president of the American Animal Hospital Association and recipient of the Oregon Practitioner of the Year. Currently, he is involved with the WSAVA Global Nutrition Committee, the WSAVA One Health Committee and is an advisor to the Animal Wellness and Welfare Guidelines Group and the Strategic Planning Task Force. He also is a past-president of the American Association of Human-Animal Bond Veterinarians, now called the Human-Animal Bond Association.
