Dr Andre Tay is the Director of Outpatient General Psychiatry Service and member of the Psychodynamic Team. His clinical work focuses on General Adult Psychiatry, Individual and Group Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in the CGH Complex Needs Service which includes the only Therapeutic Community program in Singapore currently. Dr Tay introduced and conducts the Balint Groups to residents, occupational therapists and family physicians. He is in the National Psychiatry Exit Examinations Committee, is the CGH Site Coordinator for Duke National University of Singapore (NUS) Psychiatry Programme and he is actively involved in the teaching of medical students and healthcare professionals. After graduating from the NUS Faculty of Medicine and becoming a specialist in Psychiatry in 2012, Dr Tay proceeded to complete his subspecialty fellowship and training in Individual and Group Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Tower Hamlets Psychological Therapies Service at Mile End Hospital, the Tavistock Centre and the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA) in London UK in 2015. He is an accredited practitioner of Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT). Together with his Psychodynamic Team, Dr Tay is passionate about the Psychodynamic approach in the treatment of psychiatric patients, and is working towards furthering his learning and training of healthcare professionals in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
