Helena Maltezou (Greece)

Dr. Maltezou is a pediatrician, infectious diseases specialist with a background of more than 20 years in public health. Dr Maltezou received her medical diploma at the University of Crete, Greece, and had her post-doctoral fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. Dr Maltezou was trained in pediatrics at P. & A. Kyriakou Children’s Hospital in Athens, Greece and in infectious diseases at the University of Marseille, France. Dr. Maltezou has more than 230 published articles, the edition of the English-language book Tropical and Emerging Infectious Diseases (2010), and a history of collaborations with prestigious academic institutions in Greece and abroad. She is the recipient of the 2001 European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases Award. Dr. Maltezou was granted the academic title of Guest Professor by Chinese academic institutions and of Visiting Professor by the University of Catania, Italy. Dr. Maltezou is Director of the Directorate for Research, Studies and Documentation at the National Public Health Organization in Athens, Greece.
