Georgina Tzanakaki (Greece)

Prof Georgina Tzanakaki is Professor of Public Health Microbiology, School of Public Health, University of West Attica and Head of the National Meningitis Reference Laboratory, Athens, Greece and National Contact Point at the ECDC for Meningococcal Disease. She is an active member of the European Monitoring Group on Meningococci (EMGM) and convener of the carriage working group, member of Scientific Societies / Fora as Scientific Secretary (EMGM (2012-2018) and EWGPHM/ESCMID(2014-), Chair and vice Chair of ECDC / EUPHEM Forum, accredited reviewer for the European Commission research projects (HORIZON 2020 and RIA), and ESCMID. Prof Tzanakaki has authored and co‐authored more than 100 scientific papers and participated with more than 200 scientific presentations in national and international conferences, with 7 research awards.
