Dr. Murphy did her D.O. at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Kentucky. She has been the medical director of the Transition Clinic at Carolinas Medical Center since 2015 and co-medical director of the Atrium Health Community Paramedicine program. In 2020, she became the medical director of the Atrium Health Hospital at Home program.
