APSA (Association of Argentinean Psychiatrists)
Santiago A. Levín, MD, PhD. I am a psychiatrist from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Currently, I am the past President of the APSA (Association of Argentinean Psychiatrists) and the Representative of Zone 5 at WPA (World Psychiatric Association). I am a clinical psychiatrist and a psychoanalyst. I also teach at the Medical School of the Universidad de Buenos Aires, university where I obtained my PhD with a thesis on History and Epistemology of Psychiatry (“Critic study on the declination of the biorrduccionist paradigm for Western Psychiatry”). For this work, I was awarded with the annual Medical School PhD investigation prize. During my period as President, APSA decided to prioritize the point of view of Public Health under the assumption that the latter is the sanitary instrument for social equality. This choice enabled us to avoid the corporative confrontations within the Mental Health field and, instead, to think of Mental Health from the point of view of Epidemiological needs. My interest in Public Mental Health is, therefore, routed in solid convictions
