Hans is Professor of Pediatrics and trained as pediatrician-neonatologist. At present , he is dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Amsterdam and vice-chair of Amsterdam University Medical Centers. He has a vast interest in nutrition, with a mani focus on human milk research in teh last few years. He has co-authored almost 500 articles and supervised almost 50 PhD students. He served on many international boards such as ESPGHAN, ESPR, IPRF and organised many nutrition oriented meetings and conferences. he founded the National Dutch Human Milk Bank in 2011 and acts as director.
