After his training in pediatric gastroenterology, Dr Dominique Turck was postdoctoral research fellow at the Children's Nutrition Research Center and the Department of Pediatrics, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. He was appointed as Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Lille in 1990 and was Director of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and NutritionI, Jeanne de Flandre Lille University Children’s Hospital from 1997 to 2022. Dr Turck was Chair of the Human Nutrition Committee of the French Food Safety Agency from 2003 to 2012 and a member of the ESPGHAN Committee on Nutrition from 2003 to 2012 (Secretary from 2008 to 2012). He also chaired the Nutrition Committee of the French Society of Pediatrics from 2000 to 2016 and was a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. He joined in 2012 the Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA) of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) that he is chairing since 2015. His main research interests are in breast feeding and infant nutrition, cystic fibrosis and nutrition, and epidemiology of inflammatory bowel disease. Dr Turck has been involved in the publication of 350 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
