Lenka Krbková, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases, Hygiene and Epidemiology and current Head of the Department for Paediatric Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, University Hospital Brno, Czech Republic. Her top areas of expertise are tick-borne diseases in children, mainly Lyme neuroborreliosis, Lyme arthritis, and tick-borne encephalitis. Dr. Krbková’s research is focused on clinical course, serodiagnosis with new recombinant antigens of the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex and persistence of intrathecally synthetized immunoglobulins in Lyme neuroborreliosis in children with sequelae. The research interest in tick-borne encephalitis in children is to identify and characterize early clinical signs and symptoms, to clarify the genetic basis of TBE and to identify genes controlling severity of TBE with development of methods of rapid genotyping.
