Lee Harrison (United States of America)

Dr Harrison is an Infectious Diseases Physician, Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology, and Director of the Center for Genomic Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of International Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr Harrison’s research focuses on the epidemiology and genomic epidemiology of vaccine-preventable and drug-resistant bacterial pathogens, including Neisseria meningitidis. He is principal investigator of the Active Bacterial Core surveillance (ABCs) component of the Maryland Emerging Infections Program. Prior to his career in academic medicine, Dr Harrison worked as an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer and medical epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He served as a voting member of CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) from 2012–2016. Dr Harrison received his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania, his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia. He completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at Emory School of Medicine.
