Dr Delane Shingadia is a Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Diseases at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Child Health, having worked in this field for over 20 years and in several different countries, including Zimbabwe, South Africa, USA and UK. During this time, Dr Shingadia has developed expertise in the management of a variety of paediatric infectious diseases, particularly HIV, tuberculosis and malaria. He has contributed to the development of national mycobacterial guidelines (TB and NTM) as well as published extensively on the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of TB. His other research interests include infectious diseases epidemiology, travel medicine and infection in immunocompromised children. He has published extensively in the field of paediatric infectious diseases, including several book chapters. He has also been an editor for the Manual of Childhood Infections, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Journal (purple pages) and Therapeutic Advances in Infectious Diseases. More recently he has been appointed as President of the European Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases.
