“HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND…” – FROM PARENTS’ CONCERNS TO TRUST IN VACCINATION – Supported by GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals SA
Session Description:
The aim of the symposium is to focus the mindset of Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) on the parents' experience of the pediatric vaccination journey, in (and beyond) the consultation, and in the context of COVID-19 in particular. Understanding the unique/individual/personal perspective of the parent and adapting communication styles to start and maintain engaging conversations between parents and HCPs are key to establishing trust in vaccination programmes. While COVID-19 persists, the parent/HCP relationship has become more uncertain and lockdown has made the logistics of consultation more difficult. In this symposium, the moderated sharing of experience from the different perspectives of a Parent, a Pediatrician and an Expert in Behavioral Science and Immunisation will reveal the risks of misalignment or misunderstanding between HCPs and parents and help to explore effective dialogues that encourage parents’ trust in vaccination.
