Session Description:
The first lecture will set the stage and give an overview on complex cases in schizophrenia - like patients presenting with depressive, negative and cognitive symptoms, hostility, or comorbid substance use - and the clinical challenges in their treatment. Then, the findings of a network analysis will be presented, investigating how depressive symptoms relate to other PANSS symptom dimensions in patients with schizophrenia who have predominant negative symptoms. Next, the second lecture will discuss how partial agonists can improve such complex cases by addressing a wide range of symptoms. Finally, the third lecture will focus on cariprazine’s advantages in the treatment of complex cases, and illustrate it via a case report.
