Associate Prof Dr Defne Eraslan finished her Medical and Psychiatric training in Izmir , Turkey. During her residency she was the coordinator of Trainees' Branch of the Turkish Psychiatric Association and a representative of Turkish trainees in the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees. She was then elected president of the EFPT and served as a board member until 2006. Between 2006 she worked as a Disease Area Specialist in two different pharmaceutical companies, organising non-promotional scientific meetings and creating training programs on psychopharmacology for the employees. In 2009 she returned to academic work and worked as a lecturer and assistant professor in Koc University and Acibadem University in Istanbul. Meanwhile, she has worked in the Scientific Meetings Task Force of the EPA Early Career Psychiatrists Group. Since 2017 she has become a member of the EPA Committee on Education, and there she is active in the creation of online training program and the EPA Summer School. Since Jan 2018, she has started a new career working as a Psychiatrist in Germany. Apart from Turkish and English, she speaks German and Spanish.
