Omar Kherad obtained his medical degree in 2004 and is now the head of the Division of Internal Medicine at Hôpital de la Tour in Geneva, Switzerland. After obtaining a Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) at the University of London in 2014, he carried out research projects in epidemiology and public health. Then, he was appointed to the position of associate professor at McGill University (Montréal) and adjunct Professor at the University of Geneva. His career turned towards quality improvement in medical care with a degree at Harvard University in Boston. His research focuses on overuse in medicine, a topic he teaches at the pre- and post-graduate levels.

Filip K. Knop University of Copenhagen, Denmark Filip K. Knop, MD PhD, is a consultant endocrinologist, professor of endocrinology and head of the Center for Clinical Metabolic Research at Gentofte Hospital, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Prof. Knop has been involved in diabetes research since his fellowship at The Distinguished Gifford Laboratories for Diabetes Research, University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in 1999 where he was supervised by Professor Christopher B. Newgard. Filip K. Knop’s research, for which he has received a number of grants and honours (e.g. named “Rising star” by the European Association for the Study of Diabetes in 2010, and more recently the European Journal of Endocrinology Prize 2018), centres on human metabolism and the pathophysiology of obesity and related disorders including type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, regulation of appetite and food intake, and the therapeutic potential of factors involved in these processes. He is particularly interested in the integrative role of the gut and the liver in human (patho)physiology. Prof. Knop has authored 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications. He serves as a referee for several international journals including The Lancet, British Medical Journal, Diabetes and Diabetologia and he is a member of numerous professional societies and committees.

Prof. Kokorin is currently Associate Professor at Hospital Therapy Department # 1, Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU), Moscow. He graduated in Medicine in 1998. He had served two years residency in Hospital Therapy Department at the Russian State Medical University, Moscow from 1998 to 2000. Prof. Kokorin then served as Assistant Professor until 2012 and as Associate Professor since then. Prof. Kokorin has participated in more than 50 clinical trials in cardiology (II-IV phases) since 1999 as co-investigator, study coordinator and principal investigator. He is currently Scientific Secretary of Russian Scientific Medical Society of Internal Medicine (since 2009), Honorary Member and a Treasurer of the European Federation of Internal Medicine, member of Russian Cardiology Society and European Society of Cardiology (since 1999). He has authored 103 publications.

Michael Kreuter is Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Heidelberg,Germany. He is Head of the Centre for Interstitial and Rare Lung Diseases, Thoraxklinik, University of Heidelberg, which is a European Reference network (ERN) certified ILD center. Furthermore, he is a principal investigator of the German Centre for Lung research. Michael Kreuter is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonology and haematology-oncology. Following a clinical fellowship in Muenster, Germany and a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School Boston, USA, he is working at the Thoraxklinik since 2005. His clinical and scientific interest focuses on interstitial and rare lung diseases. He is conducting various research projects on comorbidities, epidemiology, biomarkers and diagnosis and therapy of interstitial lung diseases. He is also committed to educational programmes – in this regard he will host again the ERS ILD schools in 2021.
