Acute Internal Medicine
As an Acute Physician in a large teaching hospital I am responsible for the care of patients in the first 24 hours of their admission. The education and training of medical students, doctors and allied health professionals is a passion of mine in order to continually develop individuals and see them mature into clinicians which ultimately can improve patient care and safety. Education has always been at the forefront of my career. In 2017 I gained a Masters in Medical Education. I am the clinical lead and facilitator of Schwartz rounds, a confidential forum for staff to discuss the emotional impact of work in the NHS. I am very passionate about teaching clinical reasoning and cognitive biases. This has led me to establish a course with the RCP entitled “Decision making workshop for trainee doctors; Dealing with complexity, uncertainty and risk in a clinical setting”. I am a senior member of the Royal College of Physicians Education faculty and teach on leadership and mentorship course nationally. I have been closely affiliated with the European School of Medicine, speaking about my work on cognitive biases. One of my biggest achievements is creating the RCP Medicine Podcast. This now has over 200,000 listeners worldwide and aims to educate all in medicine.
