The workshop will help participants to better understand the causes behind monopolies of specific manufacturers on the market and implications of such monopolies on procurement and health budgets. The participants will also learn about the existing tools and policies available in international agreements and national laws to address unfair monopolies, stimulate robust generic competition during the procurement processes and ensure significant price reductions. Case studies from different countries will be presented and key ongoing initiatives led by countries, UN agencies and civil society will be presented by experts from different backgrounds.
