Patrik Michel, MD, FESO, FWSO, FEAN, FAHA, is a stroke neurologist with medical training in Basel, Cape Town, Boston and Lausanne. He is head of the Stroke Center at the Lausanne University Hospital and professor of Neurology at the University of Lausanne. He has founded the Acute STroke Registry and Analysis of Lausanne (ASTRAL) and does research and teaching on a national and international level on acute stroke syndromes, imaging, acute treatment, secondary prevention and stroke prognosis. He is active in the Swiss Stroke Society, the European Stroke Organisation, European Academy of Neurology, and World Stroke Organisation, and serves on several editorial boards and steering committees.
