Abstract

Abstract Body

Peer support provide an essential role in stroke recovery and adjustment to disability. Formal peer support programs are one mechanism for people impacted by stroke to access psychosocial support from individuals with common experiences, and increased awareness of community resources. March of Dimes Canada has upwards of 65 affiliated peer support groups across Canada. As part of a national stroke support program redesign, March of Dimes Canada has been engaging with peer support group leaders, academic experts, and persons with lived experience to support the design of high impact peer support programs. The session will outline our development approach and lessons to date on implementation. This presentation will highlight evidence underpinning service design, outline key program considerations, and describe our efforts to create consistency within the service while supporting responsiveness to community context.
