Piotr Jurka graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in 1990, where in 1999 he obtained a doctorate in veterinary sciences in the field of small animal reproduction, and then in 2010, habilitation and the title of full professor in 2019. Currently vice-dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, where also since 2016 he is the head of the Department of Small Animal Diseases and the Clinic. Member of the European Society of Small Animal Reproduction (EVSSAR) and the European Society for the Reproduction of Domesticated Animals (ESDAR). He is the author and co-author of over 190 original publications, reviews and books on the subject of small animal reproduction for practitioners, students and scientists. Invited speaker at national and international congresses. He lectures on small animals, andrology and biotechnology of reproduction for students and doctoral students of veterinary medicine as well as participants of postgraduate studies. In his research work, he focuses on the use of various active substances to control and treat disorders of the ovarian cycle in companion animals. He is a co-organizer of numerous one-week courses The European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies (ESAVS) on his Alma Mater (three in 2019 and eight in 2020). A veterinarian who runs an active veterinary practice.
