Paul Overgaauw is an Agricultural Engineer (BSc) and qualified in 1985 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. His specialist field is veterinary parasitology, zoonoses and veterinary public health. He obtained his PhD in the field of Toxocara roundworm epidemiology. He became a board member of the Royal Netherlands Veterinary Association as a specialist veterinary microbiology and was recognized as Parasitologist (by the Foundation for Biomedical Scientific Research Training). He was certified as Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists (ACVM) and was until 2014 Professor of Animal Health at the University of Applied Sciences in Den Bosch. At present, he is visiting researcher at the Institute of Risk Assessment Sciences, Division of Veterinary Public Health, at the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Utrecht.
