Beatriz Monteiro

Dr. Beatriz Monteiro is a young and enthusiastic veterinarian who is passionate about pain research for the benefit of animals. After graduation from Sao Paulo State University (Unesp - Botucatu), Brazil, she completed two internships at the University of Guelph, Canada and proceeded with the validation of her diploma in North America. Currently, she is in the final year of a PhD program at the University of Montreal and she holds the highly prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Her research focuses on the assessment and treatment of pain in dogs and cats. With over 30 publications in veterinary journals, she has collaborated as an author and invited speaker in several book chapters and international meetings, respectively. Dr. Monteiro is also a member of the Board of Directors of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM) and the World Small Animal Veterinary Association - Global Pain Council (WSAVA - GPC). She hopes to advance pain management and promote animal welfare worldwide.
