DR. LINDA S. JACOBSON, BVSC, MMEDVET(MED), PHD Dr. Jacobson is a companion animal veterinarian with a specialist degree in companion animal internal medicine and a graduate certificate in shelter medicine. Her clinical experience includes ten years at a veterinary academic teaching hospital, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and over eight years as a full-time shelter veterinarian. She also has experience of clinical and bench research, research coordination and medical writing. Her current position is Senior Manager, Shelter Medicine Advancement, at the Toronto Humane Society. She is co-founder and currently President and Treasurer of the Ontario Shelter Medicine Association. She serves on the Practice Advisory Panel of the Ontario Veterinary Council and on the advisory committee for the Humane Canada shelter accreditation standards. She has published 37 articles in peer-reviewed journals, most recently a study comparing PCR with fungal culture for the diagnosis of dermatophytosis. Her passions and interests include shelter medicine, humane sheltering, infectious disease, animal hoarding and evidence-based medicine.
