From 2017 and at present, chair of the Nordic Federation of General Practice, which is a union of all the Nordic academic colleges of general practice, that is Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland, counting about 22.000 GPs. At present working as a GP at the Grafarvogur Health center, Reykjavik, Iceland. Graduated from the Medical school in Iceland, and Specialist training in General Practice in Gothenburg, Sweden. PhD in cardiovascular epidemiology in Sweden 1981. Professor of Family Medicine/General Practice in Iceland 1991 to 2013, and at the Medical school/General Practice, NTNU in Trondheim Norway 2013 - 2018. Professor emeritus at NTNU 2018 to present.
