ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR YVONNE BONOMO MBBS FRACP PhD FAChAM Graduated from the University of Melbourne Australia, Physician and Clinician Researcher in Addiction and Adolescent Medicine. She is Director of the Department of Addiction Medicine, St Vincent’s Hospital and the Women’s Alcohol and Drugs Service, Royal Women’s Hospital. Yvonne researches prescription opioids, comorbid mental health and substance use in young adults and novel treatments for addiction. She is Chief Investigator in the Australian Centre for Cannabinoid Clinical and Research Excellence funded by NHMRC. She is also Chief Investigator in the Medical Research Future Fund for Innovative Therapies exploring DMT-Assisted Therapy for Alcohol Use Disorder. Yvonne supervises undergraduates, Physician and Psychiatry Registrars. She supports health professionals working in addiction in rural areas of Victoria via the evidence-based model of tele-mentoring (Project ECHO). These include the first Victorian Opioid Management ECHO (SVHM) and Substance Use in Antenatal Care ECHO (RWH). She has been Expert Advisor to the World Health Organisation in Substance Use and Young People, Victorian Independent Advisory Committee on Medicinal Cannabis, Board member of Youth Support and Advocacy Service and Australian Drug Foundation. She has been Chair of Education and President of the Chapter of Addiction Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
