Session Description
Mental health disorders, and their service provision, social determinants, disparities, and treatment development/dissemination constitute highly complex and dynamic global phenomena which need a thorough and structured decision and policy making in the international level. It is well understood that these issues are shaped by a multitude of public health, socio-economic and political aspects and involve a diverse set of stakeholders. Effective decision formation and informed subnational, national, and international policy making in this context require reliable access to substantial volumes of multi-modal data to develop guidelines, checklists, and consensus statements to improve mental health prevention and treatment on the global level. The international society for addiction medicine (ISAM) has recently developed an infrastructure for rapid information collection, checklist development and consensus building to identify and respond to emerging challenges at the global level. In this international panel, a group of psychiatrists and mental health experts from the ISAM leadership, will share their experiences in developing ISAM Global Expert Network (ISAM GEN), World Addiction Medicine Reports (WAMR), Addiction Cue Reactivity Initiative (ACRI), International Network of tES/TMS for Addiction Medicine (INTAM) and ISAM Global Surveys (ISAM GS) using new innovations in the virtual collaborative network platforms provided during the pandemic. They will also share their experiences on how these tools and innovations can be used in other areas of psychiatry at the global level to develop new guidelines, checklists, decision making algorithms, categorizations and consensus with maximum diversity and global representativeness.
