The clinical applications of the digital revolution in Psychiatry appear to effectively facilitate the delivery of health care and increase the access to mental health care, particularly due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Within this context, telepsychiatry was born mainly due to an increased need to offer an equity access to mental health care to those people living in rural and remote areas, reducing the logistic and financial barriers encountering by people in help seeking for a mental health condition and overcoming the lack of local specialty professionals in specific mental health areas. The present symposium aims at providing international perspectives and experiences about the application of telepsychiatry in the following subspecialty areas of psychiatry: perinatal psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry and addiction medicine.
