The unprecedented events of the COVID-19 pandemic have mandated social distancing thereby changing lives and living. Interaction and intimacy have both adapted to the “new normal” of virtual platforms like many other social events. With the number of global internet-users rising dramatically over last few decades, digitalization has rapidly pervaded almost every domain of life. Sexuality is no exception, which has shared cyberspace to manifest itself, being granted a renewed impetus in today’s ‘physically distanced’ world. Cybersex has varying connotations: while it offers private, safe and anonymous ways for exploring fantasies and vicarious experiences, it has been debated as a ‘double-edged sword’ carrying the risks of online extortion (especially for the youth), cyber-security threats and unhealthy use of technology. Digital sexuality, if balanced, has the potential to improve couple dynamics and long-distance relationships.
