Session Description
Effective treatment for patients with severe mental illnesses is challenging, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where there are limited resources for specialised community services. Three diferent studies was made in Colombia focus on resource-oriented intervention. The first study calls "DIALOG+" was specifically developed as a structured intervention to make routine patient-clinician meetings therapeutically effective.. In the present study, we test the effectiveness of DIALOG+ in the treatment of patients with severe mental illnesses in Colombia, knowing that this intervention has been shown to improve outcomes in the United Kingdom. The second study calls "meeting with volunteers", explored the acceptability, feasibility and effectiveness of a volunteer intervention (of the befriending or companion type) for patients with severe mental disorder. The last study, calls "Family intervention", a brief multi-family group intervention, which consisted of a trialogue (tripartite conversation) in which horizontal relationships among all participants were encouraged. We will show the results obtained with each intervention, carried out in Colombia.
