Session Description
Social media is a communication space where users express emotions, feelings and thoughts. Your use of social media can be determined through a series of measures that capture that experience. Different associations have been reported between the use of social media and the increased risk of symptoms and mental disorders, in some cases with contradictory results, as different patterns of use are associated with different outcomes. Problematic social media use is associated with psychological distress. and a positive association has been found with depression, anxiety, stress, ADHD and OCD. Children and adolescents in particular are at greater risk. The bright side is in the possibility of using them to provide people with the opportunity to combat stigma, provide and receive peer support and access interventions via the web or applications.
