Session DescriptionThis session is intended to discuss types, clinical presentations, diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic meningitis. Meningitis is a medical emergency and this session will highlight how to make decisions to arrive at the correct diagnosis and commence treatment early to reduce morbidity and mortality. Imaging remains an important modality to suspect a particular CNS infection and set the algorithm to reach the diagnosis. Imaging features in some infections are quite characteristic.Learning objectives 1.To know the spectrum of clinical manifestations of meningitis. 2. When to suspect the diagnosis and interpretation of tests for diagnosis of meningitis. 3. To understand the role of imaging in diagnosis of various CNS infections.4. To understand treatment guidelines of meningitis. 5. To know the complications of meningitis.
